A renewed tradition: All grades come together for full Club session

The nib Newcastle Knights alongside the Once a Knight Old Boys held a full Club training session at the Newcastle Permanent Centre of Excellence last Saturday.

With over 220 players in attendance, experience ranged from the NRL and NRLW teams to the Club's junior representative sides including the SG Ball Cup, Tarsha Gale Cup, Harold Matthews Cup and Lisa Fiaola Cup squads.

Players split into positional groups executing drills in attack, defence and positional play.

Alongside the NRL and pathways coaching staff leading the session, the group were joined by former Knights players including Kurt Gidley, Robbie O'Davis and Steve Simpson.

"I think it's a great initiative for the Club to bring all teams to a Club session at the Centre of Excellence, it's a great training and development day for all players," Gidley said.

"I certainly remember as a young kid coming through the grades and having these club sessions as a Jersey Flegg player and mixing it with reserve and first grade players.

Gidley: 'There's a huge buzz around the Club today'

"It was a huge buzz at that stage of my career and I could imagine it would have been today.

"Getting to know your Club teammates throughout all the grades is really important, and building a rapport with all the staff and players is galvanising."

The full list of fixtures is now scheduled for 2024 after the release of the draws for the Major Competitions and Junior Representative seasons.
