Tarsha Gale Cup side bow out in Semi-Final

A fairytale season has come to an abrupt end for the nib Newcastle Knights Tarsha Gale Cup squad.

The side were defeated 26-10 by the St George Dragons in their semi final at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday.

The result knocks the team out of the competition after an incredible regular season, finishing as minor premiers.

The Dragons shot out of the blocks to post a 14-0 lead inside the first 10 minutes in the knockout semi-final.

Ryshe Faamausili, Stella Tijou and Rueben Cherrington got across the stripe for the Dragons.

Tori Brazier got the Knights back in the contest in the 13th minute with a try while the comeback looked to be in the making when Kasey Gaukroger crossed to make it 14-10 four minutes later.

However, the Dragons would counter with points scoring another two tries to pave their way to victory.

The Dragons and the Roosters Indigenous Academy will feature in this year's Tarsha Gale Cup Grand Final at Bankwest Stadium this Saturday.
