Knights in the news: Top trainer revealed

There's been no shortage of interest in our boys this week.

The nib Newcastle Knights attract plenty of media attention and we've pulled together the best of it in case you missed any of the news.

Here's what our boys got up to this week:

PEARCE HITS THE GROUND RUNNING

Be The Player: Week 1

Mitchell Pearce has wasted little time setting the benchmark at training.

In his first week back on the paddock, the Knights half claimed pole position on the field testing.

SIGNINGS: EVERY DEAL FOR 2019

It's his 13th pre-season, the skipper hasn't missed a step in a great sign he's primed for a massive 2019.

"I feel really good," Pearce told Nine News.

"Just did the (time trial) test and got over the line in front.

Lino: What brought me to the Knights

"Not bad for travelling around all off season."

Re-joining his teammates for testing this week, Pearce was greeted by a familiar face when he arrived at the Wests Mayfield training base.

DEAL: KNIGHTS LAND EXCITING BACK

Former Roosters CEO Brian Canavan has moved to the Knights as Director of Football.

The addition of Canavan to the front office is yet another strong sign the Club is moving in a positive direction.

Bill Peden: My First Contract

With a number of ex Roosters, Origin representative Tim Glasby, classy backs from Cronulla, a new assistant coach in Tonga mentor Kristian Woolf and head of physical performance in Ballin Cupples joining the team, Pearce is confident in the quality additions throughout the organisation.

"You've got to model yourself off the teams that are the bench mark," he said.

"We've got a few familiar faces.

"Brian Canavan is here now, who was the CEO at the Roosters from pretty much when I started.

"It's good to see the club using our own identity but then searching for other ways to improve and I think that's the best way to climb up the ladder."
