Departing players: Six to leave Knights in 2018

On Wednesday, the nib Newcastle Knights said goodbye to six players from the 2018 squad.

Jack Cogger, who played his junior football with the Club, is Belmore bound next season but leaves the Knights with plenty of fond memories.

"It's a funny emotion," Cogger said.

"I enjoyed all my time here at the Knights.

"It's been a hard couple of years, but I've learnt a lot. I can't thank the Club enough for what they've done for me over the last few years.

"I'm really going to miss the fans."

While Cogger is continuing his NRL journey, Jacob Lillyman's has come to a close.

The veteran has hung up the boots after 16 seasons in first grade.

"It's been a long career and a special 12 months here," Lillyman said.

"Lots of fond memories.

"During the week there was a lot of lasts, last gym session with the boys, last training session. It's a bit surreal but I've picked a good place to finish off, that's for sure."
