The nib Newcastle Knights are set to be strongly represented in the stands this weekend, with supporters accounting for 65 per cent of ticket sales ahead of the Preliminary Final against the Penrith Panthers.
The NRL has confirmed that nearly two thirds of the tickets purchased to date can be attributed to the Novocastrian faithful.
With the Knights chasing a place in the NRL Grand Final, thousands of passionate supporters are expected to make the journey south - with seven dedicated supporter buses already committed.
nib Newcastle Knights Group Chief Commercial Officer Jodie Cross said the ticketing figures were a reflection of the unwavering support shown by the club's members and fans throughout the season.
“Having 65 per cent of the crowd attributed to Knights supporters is a powerful reflection of just how passionate and loyal our supporter base is,” Cross said.
“We have some of the most avid and committed fans in the game, and we’re incredibly grateful for the belief and support they have shown our team throughout the season.”
Cross said the travelling support would provide an important boost for the team as they look to book their place in the NRL Grand Final.
“To see so many Novocastrians getting behind the Knights and travelling to support the team is something we’re incredibly proud of,” she said.
“Our fans and members are a huge part of what makes this club special, and we know they’ll make their voices heard.”
