nib Newcastle Knights NRLW captain Yasmin Meakes has been recognised as the NSW Blues Women’s State of Origin Player of the Year at Monday night’s Brad Fittler Medal.
Meakes was rewarded for a standout Origin campaign in 2026, adding another significant individual honour to her career.
The club was also represented by two emerging stars, with Diesel Hagan named NSW U19s Origin Player of the Year and Charley Lahmert awarded NSW Women’s Premiership Player of the Year.
All three players were in attendance to receive their awards.
The individual recognition came amid a strong season across the Knights’ pathways programs, with the NSW Cup side finishing inside the competition’s top three and the NSW Women’s Premiership team crowned minor premiers.
Director of Football Chris James said the three awards were a reflection of the quality across the club’s playing programs.
“Yasmin was outstanding for NSW this year and the recognition is thoroughly deserved," he said.
"Obviously her NRLW season was cut short through injury, but it's great to see her rewarded in this space - it's a fantastic achievement,” James said.
“For Diesel and Charley to be recognised at this level is a huge achievement and a reflection of the work they’ve put in.”
“Having three Knights recognised across the NSW representative and pathway competitions, alongside the success of our teams, shows the strength and depth of our programs."
