Knights re-sign Olivia Higgins

nib Newcastle Knights international Olivia Higgins has recommitted to the Club, signing an NRLW contract extension through to the end of 2027.

The Women’s State of Origin and Jillaroos representative will celebrate another major milestone this Sunday, when she makes her 50th NRLW appearance as the Knights host the St George Illawarra Dragons at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Higgins, an Aberglasslyn Ants junior, debuted in the Sydney Roosters’ 2021 premiership-winning team, before returning to Newcastle for back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023, making it three consecutive NRLW premiership wins.

Head Coach Ben Jeffries said Higgins leadership and professionalism continue to inspire her teammates and the broader community.

“Olivia has played an integral part in our success at the Newcastle Knights,” said Jeffries.

“Her desire to compete and improve every week is a testament to her determination and professionalism.

“She has been a dream to coach since day one, the best compliment I can give Liv is the trust she has built with her teammates, coaches and the entire Club.

“Having grown up in a rugby league family, Olivia has natural footy instincts that most others don’t possess. When you combine that with her unique ability to mentor and nurture others, her impact has been significant.

“On behalf of everyone at the Newcastle Knights, we wish Olivia all the best as she celebrates thehuge achievement of 50 NRLW games, we are ecstatic she has decided to continue with the Club through to 2027.”
