Hunter Junior Rugby League Surpasses 9,000 Registrations

Hunter Junior Rugby League has officially surpassed 9,000 registered participants, marking a significant milestone for the game across the region.

The achievement sees Hunter Junior Rugby League recognised as the largest junior rugby league region in Australia, underlining the continued growth and strength of the sport throughout Newcastle and the Hunter.

The milestone adds to the strong participation numbers being recorded across the wider northern catchment, with 6,400 registered participants across the Greater Northern Region and a further 5,984 participants registered throughout the Mid North Coast.

The figures reflect the growing passion for rugby league across regional New South Wales and reinforce the strength of the development pathways feeding into the Newcastle Knights system.

From grassroots participation through to elite junior representative programs, the continued growth across all regions highlights the strong connection between local communities and the game.

The milestone also represents another important step in the Knights’ long-term vision of becoming the NRL’s leading development club, with participation and engagement continuing to rise across both male and female pathways.
