The nib Newcastle Knights have officially formalised a new pathways partnership with All Saints Maitland Catholic College, strengthening the connection between the club and one of the region’s leading rugby league schools.
The partnership will see the College align its Rugby League program curriculum with the Newcastle Knights playing philosophy, creating greater consistency in coaching, structures and development opportunities across all year groups.
As part of the agreement, All Saints Maitland Catholic College will implement aligned terminology, systems and style of play throughout its program, while also working collaboratively with the Knights to establish and support a female schoolgirl cup team.
The College will also provide Knights branded uniforms for players and coaches and continue to utilise the club’s brand in school promotion and community engagement initiatives.
Newcastle Knights Director of Football Chris James said the partnership reflects the club’s commitment to building stronger development pathways throughout the region.
“Partnerships like this are incredibly important for the long-term growth of rugby league in our region,” James said.
“We want to ensure young players are developing in strong environments with quality coaching, clear direction and consistent messaging around how the game is played.”
Under the agreement, the Knights will support the appointment of qualified and experienced staff, assist with curriculum and session development, and deliver wellbeing and education sessions across the program.
Club staff will also attend carnivals, games and key school events throughout the partnership.
James said the alignment would help create a smoother transition for aspiring players progressing through the pathways system.
