Our Sunday double in Anzac Round kicked off in Newcastle where the table-topping Panthers continued their sensational start to 2026 with a 44-12 win over the Knights.
The Panthers had a host of stars, none better than fullback Dylan Edwards (273 run metres and three tries) and Paul Alamoti (11 tackle breaks and 204 run metres), while Brian To'o grabbed a double and broke 10 tackles.
From there we headed to Sydney's northern beaches for the latest instalment in the Sea Eagles-Eels rivalry and it was Kieran Foran continuing his golden run as Manly coach with a fourth straight win.
Since Foran took the reins in Round 5 the Sea Eagles have scored 151 points to 60 in their four victories, showcasing the attacking skills of Tolu Koula, Reuben Garrick and the sheer power of Haumole Olakaua'atu.

NRL Press Conference: Sea Eagles v Eels - Round 8, 2026
The Big 'O': Haumole OIakau'atu looks to have his name on a NSW Blues jersey for the series opener on May 27 after yet another powerhouse display. The edge forward was at his damaging best with 19 runs for 194 metres, nine tackle breaks and some bone-rattling defence. And speaking of defence, hooker Brandon Wakeham peeled off 43 tackles in 69 minutes of game time.
No.1 gun: Tolu Koula took over from Tommy Turbo at fullback and again had a blinder with 171 run metres and seven tackle breaks while Jason Saab and Lehi Hopoate combined for 26 runs and 337 metres.
Full-time: The Sea Eagles completed 40 of 45 sets at 88 per cent and had eight line breaks to one as they continue to play an exhilarating brand of footy under Kieran Foran.

77 min: Jason Saab has the 17,329 fans at 4 Pines Park on their feet as he jams in off his wing and produces a bell-ringer on Sean Russell.
76 min: Ben Trbojevic races away down the left wing and puts a kick back inside for Reuben Garrick to chase and regather. Garrick looks certain to score before Ronald Volkman shows great desperation to get back and drag him down and force an error.
Clayton Faulalo Try
72 min: Jamal Fogarty forces a line dropout, the Eels go short, the ball bounces short of the 10m line and then crosses the line where Clayton Faulalo grabs it and races to the line untouched to score. Sea Eagles 33-12
71 min: We're back to 13 on 13 as Tallyn Da Silva comes back from the bin.
Mitchell Moses Try
67 min: The Eels hit back when right winger Brian Kelly does well to get a kick back inside and Mitch Moses chases through to score. Moses adds the extras. Sea Eagles 27-12
Jason Saab Try
63 min: Jason Saab breaks an 11-game try drought as he takes a clever offload from Lehi Hopoate on halfway and slips into top gear and powers away to wrap up Manly's fourth win on the bounce. Jamal Fogarty fails to convert. Sea Eagles 27-6
Da Silva sin binned
61 min: Tallyn Da Silva lifts Jake Simpkin above the horizontal and is sent to the sin for a dangerous tackle. The Eels are down to 12 men for the next 10 minutes.
60 min: Tolu Koula is ruled to have lost the ball in a tackle, the Sea Eagles challenge, the bunker rules in their favour.
Jamal Fogarty Try
57 min: Ben Trbojevic slips a nice offload to Jamal Fogarty who shows plenty of pace to outstrip Joash Papalii and get across for his third try of the season. The No.7 fails to convert his own try. Sea Eagles 23-6

43 min: The Sea Eagles come up empty on the last tackle when the ball is swung left to Tolu Koula who has no room to move and is easily shut down.
41 min: Mitch Moses is penalised and placed on report for a high shot.
Life of Brian: Playing back at Brookie where he launched his NRL career in 2017, Eels winger Brian Kelly was in everything in the opening term. Kelly had 14 runs for 109 metres and five tackle breaks and showed plenty of strength to get over in the corner for his team's only try.
Jamal Fogarty slots a field goal
Half-time: A tense and tight first half with the Sea Eagles completing 19 of 23 sets at 82 per cent and the Eels 16 off 22 at 72 per cent.

Saab uses the header, intentionally

22 min: Jack de Belin loses the ball and is ruled to have knocked on. The Eels throw in a captain's challenge which is successful and they retain possession.
21 min: The Sea Eagles are penalised for offside just in front of their own posts and Mitch Moses bangs over the penalty goal. 6-6
19 min: The ball ends up with Ben Trbojevic on tackle five and the back-rower is forced to kick. It's a shocker and goes well over the dead ball line.
