The nib Newcastle Knights have defeated the Gold Coast Titans 28-24 at Magic Round in Brisbane on Saturday afternoon.

The side produced an inspiring second half comeback highlighted by keeping the Titans scoreless in the second period and a David Armstrong hat-trick.

The result is the squad's fourth win in succession ahead of their first bye of the season.

HOW IT PLAYED OUT:

1st min - The match kicked off as part of the first match of the day on Saturday in Brisbane.

4th min - The Knights were off to a fast start with David Armstrong continuing his try-scoring form.

A short ball from Leo Thompson sent Jacob Saifiti through the Titans defence and the forward drew the fullback in to find a flying Armstrong in support for the Knights first.

8th min - The Knights extended their lead only four minutes later with Armstrong doubling up.

The fullback received a pass from Jackson Hastings and showed his toughness and speed to make his way over the line.

14th min - The Titans had their first with Klese Haas winning a race to the ball in the in-goal.

18th min - Alofiana Khan-Pereira got the Titans level with their second.

24th min - The Titans hit the lead when Jojo Fifita climbed high to claim the ball over Greg Marzhew.

30th min - Knights halfback Jackson Hastings and Titans centre Aaron Schoupp were sent to the sin-bin for a melee close to the Titans line.

34th min - The Titans extended their lead when Keano Kini broke through the Knights defence and showed his quick feet to out-pace the chasing red and blue jerseys.

36th min - Gold Coast posted another quick fire try with Khan-Pereira notching his second.

40th min - The Knights trailed 24-10 at the break.

46th min - Newcastle came out charging in the second half and were back in the contest following the fullback converting his third try of the match.

Excellent footwork from Dylan Lucas saw the forward break through into the back-field and find that man again, David Armstrong, in the right spot to capitalise for the Knights and claim his first career hat-trick.

50th min - The Knights were within two when Brodie Jones dove over next to the posts.

55th min - Newcastle improved immensely in their defence in the second half to keep out the Titans.

67th min - The Knights hit the lead when Jacob Saifiti earned a penalty try.

The forward was chasing through on an Adam Elliott kick and was tackled without the ball by Titans forward Moeaki Fotuaika.

76th min - The Titans looked to have scored a crucial try, but Brian Kelly was ruled to have dropped the ball in the put down.

80th min - Newcastle held on to claim the victory in Brisbane.
