Pathways Report: Big wins for SG Ball, Lisa Fiaola squads

The Junior Reps seasons continued over the weekend with a few nib Newcastle Knights squads recording victories.

The pathways sides hosted the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles on Saturday at Kurri Kurri Sports Ground.

Meanwhile, the Newcastle-Maitland Region Knights played the Central Coast Roosters on Saturday at Cessnock Sportsground.

SG Ball Cup | Knights 54-14 Sea Eagles

The Knights SG Ball Cup side scored an impressive win against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles on Saturday at Kurri Kurri Sports Ground.

The team ran in a considerable 10 tries to the Sea Eagles three to post another two points and their third win in succession.

Following tries in the first half from Jermaine McEwen, Connor Votano (2), Wilson De Courcey (2) and Logan Aoake, the side opened up a 32-0 lead at the change of ends.

SG Ball Cup: 2024 Round 5 Highlights

Centre, De Courcey produced a huge hit on the Manly fullback which would lead to a try to Knights fullback, Votano.

The side would score another four tries in the second half with Aoake grabbing his second, while Blake Dorahy also scored a double and Fletcher Hunt got his name on the scoresheet.

The result moves the team up to third spot on the ladder with four wins and one defeat.

Tarsha Gale Cup | Knights 24-24 Sea Eagles

The Knights Tarsha Gale Cup side have played out a 24-all draw against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles on Saturday at Kurri Kurri Sports Ground.

Manly would open the scoring before Knights winger Lilly McNamara bagged a double in the space of seven minutes.

The Knights hit the lead when Evah McEwen stormed through a hole to score while Aylah McCulloch added the Knights fourth late in the first half.

The two sides traded tries in the second half with fullback Lilly-Ann White scoring for the Knights.

Manly would strike late with two tries inside four minutes to draw level.

The squad currently sit in sixth spot on the ladder following the draw.

Harold Matthews Cup | Knights 16-6 Sea Eagles

The Harold Matthews Cup side have recorded back-to-back wins with a 10-point victory over the Sea Eagles on Saturday at Kurri Kurri Sports Ground.

Callum Elsey scored the first for the Knights inside the opening 10 minutes off a well worked move from the scrum.

On the other side, William Manning posted the Knights second to extend the red and blue's lead.

Harold Matthews Cup: 2024 Round 5 Highlights

Leading 10-0 at the break, Manly would score next to start the second half.

However, the Knights would post the final try with Jace Cox powering his way to the line with only a couple of minutes remaining.

The squad now sit in sixth spot on the ladder with three wins from the first five rounds.

Lisa Fiaola Cup | Knights 44-6 Sea Eagles

The Lisa Fiaola Cup side have scored their first two points of the season with a dominant win over the Sea Eagles on Saturday at Kurri Kurri Sports Ground.

The squad ran in eight tries to the Sea Eagles one to record a comprehensive victory.

Sea Eagles would score the opening try in the first minute, but it would be one way traffic from there.

Lisa Fiaola Cup: 2024 Round 5 Highlights

Taylah-Jane Belcher posted a hat-trick while Stevie Botham, Sophie Hedley, Macey Cox, Maronay Smuts and Summer Dowell all scored four-pointers.

Smuts would kick six goals with the boot to confirm the victory.

The side are now up to ninth on the ladder from their first four games.

Laurie Daley Cup | NMR Knights 14-40 CC Roosters

The Newcastle-Maitland Region Knights side have gone down to the Central Coast Roosters at Cessnock Sportsground on Saturday.

Harrison Kearsey, Jack Thompson and Joel Salter scored the only tries for the Knights.

The match concludes the five-round competition for the Laurie Daley Cup squad.

Andrew Johns Cup | NMR Knights 24-24 CC Roosters

The Newcastle-Maitland Region Knights have played out a 24-all draw against the Central Coast Roosters at Cessnock Sportsground on Saturday.

Kuda Hall, Kade Paton, Jett Taylor, Riley Martin and Chip Valentish scored the tries for the Knights as the side shared the points with the Roosters

The match also concludes the regular five-game competition for the Andrew Johns Cup squad.
