The nib Newcastle Knights have gone down 20-12 to the Penrith Panthers at BlueBet Stadium on Saturday night.
The Panthers scored four tries to the Knights two to take the victory.
Newcastle will look to respond next start when they play the Bulldogs heading into the third and final bye round.

9th min - The Panthers scored first points as Dylan Edwards sliced through the defence to run in under the posts.
18th min - Newcastle hit back as Kalyn Ponga attacked the short side.
The fullback put Dom Young into space and the winger found KP back on the inside for the Knights first.

35th min - Peachey had his second pouncing on a Knights mistake close to the line.
38th min - The Knights were reduced to 12 men when Jack Hetherington was sent to the sin-bin.
39th min - The Panthers took a 16-6 lead into the sheds.
48th min - The home side extended their advantage when Jaeman Salmon dove over from dummy-half.
55th min - Jackson Hastings reduced the deficit to eight points capitalising on an opportunity for the Knights second four-pointer.
The halfback dummied into the line and dived over the next to the posts to make the scores 20-12 with 25 minutes remaining.
