Gagai: "I'm feeling very privileged to be in this position"

This week we’re joined by nib Newcastle Knights centre, Dane Gagai ‘Gags’ on the KNIGHTS // HQ Podcast.

We kicked things off with our highly requested ‘guess that game’ where we test Gags’ memory on some of the biggest games in his career thus far. Listen on Apple and Spotify.

The boys chatted about his highly decorated NRL, Origin and World Cup career ahead of his upcoming milestone of 250 NRL games this Sunday.

"I'm feeling good, I'm feeling very privileged to be able to be in this position. I've seen a lot of people do it before me, Gagai said.

"I've played with a lot of great players and I actually remember when I came to Newcastle, I was teasing Willie Mason because I was only 22 at the time and I said mate you're so old at 32. Time's gone like that and I'm that bloke. "

We also hear the deeper story of meeting Wayne Bennett in Brisbane, playing alongside Bedsy in his 2012 debut and the indescribable feeling of an origin atmosphere.

Gags spoke about his father's role in shaping his footy journey, idealising him as a ball boy at his Broncos game from a young age. He also spoke about his passion and the importance of the right mindset for the game.

We also spoke about moving to Souths and nearly winning a Grand Final before returning in 2022 as a leader in our Club.

We finish off by naming our greatest centre pairing of all time in Three GOATs with Crokes.
