Pathways Report: SG Ball side score huge win

In this week's pathways report, we take a look at the nib Newcastle Knights pathways teams in the Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership, SG Ball Cup, Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup and Harold Matthews Cup competitions.

Our three junior reps and Women's Premiership side continued their seasons with Round 4 clashes against the Rabbitohs on Saturday at Kurri Kurri Sports Ground.

See how each team fared:

NSW Women's Premiership - Knights 12-16 Rabbitohs

The NSW Women's Premiership side have gone down narrowly to the Rabbitohs on Saturday.

In a tight first half, the Knights would cross for one try courtesy of Olivia Higgins on the 29th minute mark to lead 6-4 at half-time.

The Bunnies would post two quick-fire tries after the break to move into the lead.

On the 47th minute mark, Yasmin Clydsdale scored her second four-pointer in as many games while Tylah Vallance converted to bring the Knights level at 12-12.

However, the Rabbitohs would score a crucial try with 15 minutes remaining and held on to claim the two points.

After four rounds, the side sits in eighth spot with one win and three defeats.

They will rest up with the bye next round.

SG Ball Cup - Knights 42-4 Rabbitohs

Our SG Ball Cup side have scored a convincing 38-point win over the Rabbitohs on Saturday.

The team ran in nine tries to one to extend their strong start to the campaign.

Ethan Ferguson crossed the stripe for the Knights first six minutes into the game before Jayden Harris and Elijah Salesa Ieaumoana consolidated the lead with a try each before the break.

Leading 14-0 at the change of ends, the team would come out firing in the second half posting another six tries.

Ferguson would pick up a second while Fletcher Sharpe also ran in for a double while Jermaine McEwen got his name on the scoresheet.

Adding to his first half effort, Jayden Harris would bag another three four-pointers for an impressive four-try haul in the game.

The result moves the team up to fourth spot on the ladder after four rounds, with three wins and one loss.

They will take on the Warriors next start who also have three wins to their name to start the season.

Tarsha Gale Cup - Knights 22-6 Rabbitohs

Our Tarsha Gale Cup team have returned to winning ways with a 16-point win over the Rabbitohs on Saturday.

The Rabbitohs posted first points three minutes into the game before the Knights responded 13 minutes later through Lily Thurlow.

Cheyenne Baker added the Knights second before half-time as the red and blue took a 12-6 lead into the break.

The team would go on with the job in the second half holding South Sydney to nil and adding another two tries.

Kyah Johnston crossed for the Knights third before Leah Ollerton sealed the result with a try two minutes from full-time.

The result is the side's third of the season and lifts them up to third on the ladder from the opening rounds.

With the bye next round, the team will rest up before tackling the back half of the campaign.

Harold Matthews Cup - Knights 22-24 Rabbitohs

The Harold Matthews Cup team have gone down by two points to the Rabbitohs on Saturday.

After a promising start, fullback Connor Votano got the Knights on the board in the opening minute of the game.

Kyran Blair, Haami Loza and Jett Woodward scored a try each only six minutes apart to improve the Knights lead out to 22-6 at half-time.

The Rabbitohs would rally in the second half with three quick tries of their own after the resumption of play.

The last of the Bunnies tries came in the 46th minute with the away team holding on to claim the victory.

After the opening four rounds, the Harold Matthews team sits in eighth with two wins and two defeats.

They will also rest up next week with the bye.
