McDermott on English Super League triumphs and joining the coaching staff

Having joined the nib Newcastle Knights coaching staff in the off-season, Senior Assistant Coach Brian McDermott talks about his journey within the game and how the squad is preparing for the 2023 season.

On the KNIGHTS // HQ Podcast, the man from the North of England described his own coaching philosophies gathered from over 400 games.

"What you do is important, the game plan and what we get the players to do is really important," McDermott said on the KNIGHTS // HQ Podcast.

"How you do it and why you're doing, that's what I started to get a grip of. 

"If you put something in place and it works, that's great, but if you put something in place and it works repeatedly, I think you've got something."

McDermott on coaching philosophy

On the third episode of the season, the boys test Brian's knowledge on his playing and coaching career from his time in the Super League, plus a game against our very own Knights back in '02 as part of the World Club Challenge.

The new Assistant Coach also spoke about his transition into coaching after over 250 games for the Bradford Bulls along with stories from his title-winning Leeds sides including a famous treble-winning season in 2015.

Having coached some of the English games best players and leaders, McDermott shared what excites him heading over to a new country and working in the NRL.
