Titans v Knights Round 2 NRLW team list

nib Newcastle Knights NRLW Head Coach Ronald Griffiths has named a 22-woman squad for our Round 2 clash with the Gold Coast Titans this Sunday at Cbus Super Stadium.

Simone Karpani replaces co-captain Hannah Southwell at lock in the only change to the side that scored a first-up 32-14 win over Brisbane at McDonald Jones Stadium last Sunday.

Scans have confirmed Southwell suffered a ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in her right knee in the first half of the Knights historic victory over the Broncos.

She now faces surgery and a lengthy recovery period, but will remain a big part of the Knights NRLW campaign for the season to come.

Karpani’s elevation to the starting side is a just reward for a stellar performance from the interchange on Sunday, playing 42 minutes and making 21 tackles at 100% tackle efficiency.

The South Adelaide Bulldogs junior and 2021 Premiership winner’s place on the interchange has been taken by former Queensland Under 19 representative and Wests Brisbane Panthers product Makenzie Weale, who is in line to make her NRLW debut on Sunday on the Gold Coast.
