Knights defeated by the Roosters on home turf

The nib Newcastle Knights have gone down 42-12 to the Sydney Roosters at McDonald Jones Stadium on Friday night.

The Roosters ran in eight tries to the Knights two in front of just over 13,000 fans at McDonald Jones Stadium.

The result is the Knights 13th loss of the campaign ahead of a home clash against the Bulldogs next round.

On the 7th minute, Anthony Milford was awarded a penalty for a late shot.

The Knights took early points with a penalty from close to in front with Kalyn Ponga converting.

The Roosters would score the first try with Luke Keary scoring under the posts after a midfield break.

Kalyn Ponga was ruled out for the remainder of the game after suffering a head knock.

The away team would have their second on the 24th minute mark after Joseph Suaalii crossed the stripe.

Suaalii again caused havoc climbing high for the ball and finding Tedesco back on the inside for the Roosters third try.

The Roosters took a 16-2 lead into the change of ends.

The Roosters would post another two tries quickly after half-time through their wingers Tupou and Suaalii.

Angus Crichton and Egan Butcher scored the Roosters seventh and eighth to secure the victory.

Phoenix Crossland and Edrick Lee scored late consolation tries for Newcastle.

The Knights will be back at home next round to face the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.
