The nib Newcastle Knights continue to roll out big name NRLW signings with four more premiership winners added to the squad for the upcoming NRL Telstra Women’s Premiership season.
Yasmin Clydsdale, Olivia Higgins, Simone Karpani and Tayla Predebon have all agreed to return to the Hunter to play for the red and blue.
Newcastle born Clydsdale (née Meakes), who works as high school teacher in Scone, will play for the Knights after commuting to the Roosters for the past two NRLW seasons.
The 28-year-old, who plays primarily as a second rower, featured in all seven games of the Roosters victorious ’21 season and has also represented NSW at State of Origin level.
Novocastrian and Newcastle junior, Olivia Higgins, returns to the Club having made her NRLW debut in the 2021 competition.
The skilful dummy-half enjoyed a NRLW season to remember with consistent performances and a match winning try to seal the Roosters Grand Final win earlier this year.
Hard-working forwards, Simone Karpani and Tayla Predebon, will provide power and punch to the Knights middle.
Predebon, who grew up in Gloucester, was a member of the 2019 CRL Newcastle team which won the NSWRL Women’s Premiership, alongside now-Knights teammates Higgins, Hannah Southwell and Caitlan Johnston.
Karpani, who resides in Newcastle after playing her junior rugby league in Adelaide, also made her debut during the 2021 season with immediate impact.
Stay tuned for more NRLW signings, as the squad takes shape for the Knights second season in the NRLW competition, commencing in mid-August.
