Knight Strong. Improving health outcomes for Indigenous Australians

The nib Newcastle Knights will partner with Aboriginal Medical Service, Awabakal Ltd to deliver Knight Strong; a health initiative that will stimulate community participation in annual health assessments and prioritise positive health outcomes for Indigenous Australians.

Newcastle Knights' 2022 season recruit and Knights Strong ambassador, Dane Gagai said the program will empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to take control of their health and wellbeing.

CEO of Awabakal Ltd, Raylene Gordon, said she is optimistic about the program's potential to convert instances of health check reluctance into positive action.

The program will not only promote immediate action and outcomes but will also inform future opportunities for wider implementation of targeted Indigenous health initiatives delivered in partnership with the Newcastle Knights. 

Newcastle Knights CEO, Philip Gardner said the program would be the first of many strategic partnerships aimed at engendering meaningful change for Indigenous Australians.
