Get to know: Phoebe Desmond

Ahead of the nib Newcastle Knights introduction to the NRL Telstra Women's Premiership, we sat down with the squad members who are creating history in the red and blue.

We caught up with Singleton's, Phoebe Desmond, to get to know her a little better.

A prominent figure amongst the women's rugby league competitions in Newcastle, Desmond has paved the way to the elite level of the game and brings plenty of experience to the squad.

You’re journey in the game? Where have you played before?

I've played for Singleton, Maitland Pickers, Hunter Star's, North Newcastle,  Aberglasslyn and now the Newcastle Knights.

How excited are you to be a part of the first ever NRLW side for the Newcastle Knights?

Absolutely pumped and so grateful!

What’s your hopes and expectations for the season ahead?

Set the platform and be the best me for the team.

What are you most looking forward to for the season?

Competing against the best.

Remember the Titans or Cool Runnings.

Best piece of advice you’ve received?

Don't let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game

Why do gorillas have big nostrils?

Big fingers.

Where did you grow up?

Singleton.

Who is most important to you?

My family.

Greatest on-field moment? 

Taking player of the match in the Country Championships Grand Final.

Greatest off-field achievement?

Purchasing our dream farm and getting engaged.
