Recovery Report: Latest on D-Saf as we hit the run home

The nib Newcastle Knights may be north of the border in quarantine, but that won’t stop you from hearing the latest out of the recovery unit.

This Saturday at 5:30pm, the Knights will take on the Bulldogs on the Gold Coast for another vitally important two points.

Brought to you by Allara Learning, this is the Round 23 Recovery Report.

Daniel Saifiti

Despite playing a key role in the win over Cronulla, Saifiti failed to finish the game after picking up a high grade MCL injury.

According to Head of Physical Performance, Balin Cupples, Saifiti has already began his rehabilitation process in an effort to get back on the park.

“D-Saf’s entered his early treatment phase with his knee in a brace for the purpose of rapid healing,” Cupples said.

“Daniel has already began to hit modified off-feet conditioning and strength maintenance to try and get back before the end of the season.”

Lachlan Fitzgibbon

As confirmed last week, Fitzgibbon has undergone shoulder surgery and will not return this year.

According to Cupples, Fitzgibbon has responded well to early treatment in the Sunshine Coast Hub.

“Lachlan began some early guided mobility and strength work this week and is responding really positively,” he said.

“Fitzy has continued to contribute to the group around the Hub and is focussed on getting fit for the start of the pre-season.”

Pasami Saulo

Having not featured since Round 9, Saulo has been impressing on the training paddock as he returns to full fitness.

“As per our updates over the last few weeks, Pasami has been training really strongly with the team,” Cupples said.

“Pasami is fit, healthy and once again pushing for selection.”
