nib Newcastle Knights back-rower Lachlan Fitzgibbon has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2021 season after undergoing shoulder surgery.
Fitzgibbon suffered a new injury to his right shoulder during last Thursday's match against Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium.
Initial scans proved inconclusive, with specialists deciding to undergo surgery yesterday (Friday) to identify the extent of the injury. Surgeons discovered cartilage damage, which has now been repaired.
Lachlan has come through the procedure well and is now resting back with the team at the Sunshine Coast Hub. He will commence rehabilitation immediately, with an aim to commence pre-season training.
