Recovery Report: Fitzgibbon update ahead of Sunday

The nib Newcastle Knights may be north of the border in quarantine, but that won’t stop you from hearing the latest out of the recovery unit.

This Sunday at 4pm, the Knights will take on the Sharks in Redcliffe for another vitally important two points.

The Knights wish to send our regards and support to everyone in lockdown, wherever you are located, in particular our members and partners back home in Newcastle,.

Brought to you by Allara Learning, this is the Round 21 Recovery Report.

Hymel Hunt

Suffered against the Brisbane Broncos last week, Hunt failed an off-field HIA and failed to return to the field.

In good news, the ten-day turnaround has worked in Hunt's favour and he's set to take his place in the team on Sunday.

"Hymel's trained really strongly this week and has followed all the necessary protocols," Head of Physical Performance Balin Cupples said.

"We're really excited to see Hymel take his place in the team on Sunday."

Lachlan Fitzgibbon

After putting in a strong performance which saw him cross for his third try of the year, Fitzgibbon failed to finish the game last week after picking up a late injury to his right shoulder.

Cupples said while Fitzgibbon wasn't named this week, the back rower is doing everything he can to get back as soon as he can.

"The club is currently exploring options with the assistance of some leading shoulder specialists regarding clarifying a return to play timeframe for Lachlan's injury," Cupples said.

Fitzgibbon has been ruled out of the Cronulla match.

Bradman Best

Powerful centre Bradman Best had precautionary scans on his chest immediately after the Broncos clash last Thursday.

Further scans, monitoring, treatment and modified training have given him a every chance to play this Sunday.

"Bradman has applied himself 100% to all of the above during the 10 day turnaround and is likely to play this week," Cupples said.
