Presser Points: AOB reacts to crucial Raiders win

A proud nib Newcastle Knights Head Coach, Adam O'Brien, spoke to the media following the side's much-needed 34-24 win over the Canberra Raiders at Suncorp Stadium.

The six tries to four win provides a crucial two points for the red and blue in their chase of a top eight spot.

The Coach heaped praise on his side following the showing and the challenges of the last 24-48 hours.

ON THE PERFORMANCE

"We needed to win," O'Brien said.

"Really happy for not only the players, but the staff. It's been a tough couple of weeks so I'm proud of everyone.

"The players, I just can't fault what they've done on the field this week. We got our preparation right.

"There was some parts there at the end I wasn't happy with defensively. We took the foot of the throat there, but a win is a win.

CURRENT SITUATION AND LAST 24 HOURS

"It's all about recovery for us now," O'Brien said.

"It's never been done before, I don't have a blueprint for a four-day (turnaround).

"At the end of the day, we're privileged to get the game on.

"We found out the game was on at 9:30pm last night.

"We got the players together and said 'whatever happens we'll get on with it' and that is what I'm really proud about.

THE RETURN OF BRADMAN

"They certainly love playing with him," O'Brien said.

"I knew he was close but we went one more week to get more conditioning training into him.

"His energy is infectious in the group and he's so committed and wants to compete all the time.

"I'm really pleased for him and I really enjoy coaching Bradman.

PEARCE UPDATE

"He's a real big chance (to play against Brisbane)," O'Brien said.

"He wasn't too far away from this one but we thought one more week and back the two young halves in Jake and Phoenix to get the job done.

"He will be a big inclusion fingers crossed on Thursday."
