First half annihilation sets up NSW Cup victory

A stunning first half display has paved the way for the nib Newcastle Knights Knock-On-Effect NSW Cup side to score a high-scoring 44-30 victory over the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Stadium Australia.

Six tries inside the opening 40 minutes including a sensational Dylan Lucas hat-trick saw the Knights storm over the top of the Bunnies and return to the winner's circle.

The team snapped a two-game losing streak with the emphatic result.

Daniel Ticehurst got the ball rolling for the red and blue in the fourth minute after a midfield break led to the front-row forward galloping away to score under the posts.

Lucas had his first try in the 11th minute before Simi Sasagi strolled over five minutes later.

The Knights were on the front foot and continued the onslaught when Zac Hosking dived over on the 22nd minute mark.

Lucas would score another two tries in the space of four minutes including an incredible length-of-the-field effort.

Rabbitohs chalked one back on the stroke of half-time before Simi Sasagi had his second of the afternoon eighth minutes into the second period.

The Rabbitohs scored three consecutive tries and a late consolation in the second half to bridge the deficit.

However, it wasn't enough as Dylan Lucas streaked away to score an incredible fourth try with five minutes to play to seal the result for the Knights.
