NSW Cup Knights edge Raiders in thriller

A shocking ankle injury to nib Newcastle Knights forward Pasami Saulo has taken the gloss off a thrilling 22-20 win for the NSW Cup side over the Canberra Raiders.

A scintillating solo effort from winger Matt Soper-Lawler in the dying minutes got the Knights home in a highly-entertaining game, however it was the horrific injury which unfortunately headlined the encounter.

Saulo left McDonalds Park in an ambulance following the incident, which saw the game paused for nearly 20 minutes.

The see-sawing encounter saw the lead change hands on multiple occasions as the two teams battled it out in front of a healthy crowd in Wagga Wagga.

The game came to a thrilling conclusion, with the Raiders scoring through former Knight Toby Marks in the final play of the game to set up the ultimate finish.

Canberra No.7 Brad Schneider had an opportunity to steal a draw for the Green Machine with the ensuing conversion attempt, however was waved away.

The win sees Andrew Ryan's men heading back up the Hume Highway with a positive result following back to back losses.

The Raiders got the game off to the perfect start, with winger Manase Kaho opening the scoring.

Back-to-back tries to Mat Croker and Luke Huth wrestled control back for the Knights, before the teams traded tries heading into the thrilling final ten minutes.
