Joey's Rd18 Tips: QLD woes continue, Saturday night verdict

It’s another big round of NRL action this weekend and club legend Andrew ‘Joey’ Johns once again has you covered if you need help with your weekly tips.

A 6/8 last week was one of the G.O.A.T's best so far, however Johns is still searching for his first perfect round.

It'll be another tough weekend for the Eighth, with this round one of the hardest yet for tipsters everywhere.

In this series, he will preview and review every single nib Newcastle Knights game in 2020 and will also be providing his tips for all eight games, every round.

Joey's Rd18 Preview: Hoy's chance, SBW impact, tips

Tigers v Rabbitohs

Joey's Tip: Rabbitohs

It may seem like an easy one to kick the round off, however Johns isn't so sure.

The Tigers are coming off an incredible come-from-behind win over Manly, and need a win to keep their slim finals hopes alive.

However, Johns just couldn't see them getting past the in-form Bunnies.

"Rabbitohs just," he said.

Bulldogs v Sea Eagles

Joey's Tip: Sea Eagles

The early kick off on Friday doesn't make for pretty viewing, with two sides locking horns with little other than pride on the line.

Both teams are winless in their last six games, but Johns believes it will be the Sea Eagles who finally break their drought after coming so close last weekend.

"No Kieran Foran (for the Bulldogs)...so I don't know where their points are going to come from," Johns said.

Panthers v Eels

Joey's Tip: Panthers

A top four clash for the ages, with the Panthers looking to notch their 13th straight victory.

The Eels were the last team to beat the Panthers back in June, however Johns doesn't see the blue and gold getting up this time.

Dragons v Raiders

Joey's Tip: Raiders

A Raiders win in this one will officially end the Dragons season, and allow the Green Machine to maintain touch with the top four.

With so much to play for, Johns was confident in predicting Canberra will get the job done.

Titans v Broncos

Joey's Tip: Titans

"Surely this is Brisbane's match?" James Bracey said.

"No," said The Great Man.

Roosters v Knights

Joey's Tip: Roosters

Look away Knights fans, because this one isn't what you want to see.

The Roosters are flying with the return of guns Luke Keary and Sonny Bill Williams, while our boys are without Kalyn Ponga, Mitch Barnett or Hymel Hunt.

Unfortunately, not even the returns of Daniel Saifiti and Edrick Lee sees Joey predicting us springing an upset against the back-to-back premiers.

Storm v Cowboys

Joey's Tip: Storm

One of the easier games of the week, with the Storm expected to ease past the 14th placed Cowboys.

Sharks v Warriors

Joey's Tip: Warriors

This one probably shapes as the game of the round with so much on the line for both teams.

The Sharks will be without Chad Townsend after a vicious shoulder charge on Kalyn Ponga, while the Warriors are full of confidence after pushing Parramatta all the way last weekend.

The Great Man doesn't see much changing for the Sharks this week, predicting the Warriors to surge into finals contention with two weeks remaining.

"I like the way the Warriors are playing, it's great stuff," he said.
