Numbers: The good, the bad and the ugly

These are the numbers that matter.

While stats can't tell you everything, they do paint a very telling picture.

Here's what they told us following the Round 16 loss to the Warriors.

36%

Possession to the nib Newcastle Knights.

A combination of penalties (eight), errors (11) and set re-starts (four) saw the Knights starved of any meaningful opportunities, particularly in the second half.

Those kind of numbers are never going to get you anywhere in the NRL.

154

Run metres to Starford To'a.

To'a was a rare shining light in attack today, breaking a couple of tackles and making a memorable line break in the second half.

The young gun also managed 19 tackles and 56 post-contact metres.

30

Missed tackles by the Knights.

It needs to be said, our defence wasn't good enough today.

The Knights missed 10 more tackles than their counterparts, and worryingly made 25 more ineffective tackles than the Warriors.

59

Post contact metres by Lachlan Fitzgibbon.

The rangy second rower was in decent form tonight, making a line break and 33 tackles.

He also ran for 130 metres.

150

NRL games for David Klemmer.

Not the result he deserved today, but congratulations none the less for a terrific run so far.
