Joey's Rd.6 Tips: Major upset in toughest week yet

Footy is well and truly back and after a solid score of 6/8 last week, nib Newcastle Knights legend Andrew ‘Joey’ Johns is out for redemption in Round 6.

Johns has once again cast his eye over the NRL Draw, assisting tipsters after a roller-coaster restart to the NRL season.

In his new series previewing and reviewing every single Knights game in 2020, the Eighth Immortal will also be providing his tips for all eight games, every round.

Joey's Rd.6 preview: Pack punch, No.9 influence, tips

Knights v Broncos

Joey's Tip: Knights

While our boys suffered their first loss last weekend, Johns had no hesitation in backing them to return to the winners circle on Thursday night.

The promising signs shown against the Storm as well as the loss of Broncos centre Kotoni Staggs proved to be the motivation for Joey's call.

Rabbitohs v Warriors

Joey's Tip: Rabbitohs

Both sides will be hoping to kick start their seasons after impressive wins in Round 5.

However, Johns was in little doubt the Rabbitohs would be the team to make it two on the trot and roll on with a win.

Panthers v Storm

Joey's Tip: Storm

This one shapes as one of the games of the round, with both sides nestled towards the top of the ladder with a quarter of the season done and dusted.

"It's a tough one, and I'm very tempted to pick the Panthers," Johns said.

"I'm going to go the Storm off the strength of their bench.

"Big Tino and Nelson coming off the bench just adds so much."

Titans v Dragons

Joey's Tip: Dragons

Coming off a breakthrough victory over the Sharks, Johns was confident the wins will keep coming for the Dragons in this one.

Tigers v Cowboys

Joey's Tip: Tigers

Both these teams have been a tipsters nightmare so far in 2020, sitting 8th and 9th on the ladder with two wins and three losses a piece.

It's probably the toughest game to tip this week, however the 8th Immortal didn't share the tipping headache.

"The Tigers are my absolute specials of the week," he said.

Roosters v Eels

Joey's Tip: Eels

The back-to-back premiers v the unbeaten competition leaders. The indisputable match of the round.

Despite the Roosters winning their last two games by a combined score of 101-6, Johns was prepared to back the unbeaten Eels to make it six wins out of six.

"It'll go down to the wire and there'll be nothing in it," Johns said.

Raiders v Sea Eagles

Joey's Tip: Raiders

The Green Machine have dropped just one game all year, and Johns believes they'll be too good for an injury-hit Manly side.

"The Raiders are my other specials for the week," he said.

"No Martin Taupau and no Moses Suli, so the Raiders are specials."

Sharks v Bulldogs

Joey's Tip: Sharks

Another tough game to round out the week, with the struggling Sharks meeting the battling Bulldogs on Sunday Night.

While Johns was unsure when put on the spot, he ultimately backed the Sharks to bounce back from last weekend's disappointing loss to St George Illawarra.
