Joey's Rd4 Tips: Ladder leaders to continue on

Footy is well and truly back and after a big return to the field in Round 3, this weekend tipsters will have a bit of form to use when selecting their picks.

nib Newcastle Knights legend Andrew ‘Joey’ Johns has once again cast his eye over Round 4 having correctly tipped five games last time out.

In his new series previewing and reviewing every single Knights game in 2020, the Eighth Immortal will also be providing his tips for all eight games, every round.

Broncos v Roosters

Joey’s Tip: Roosters

The first game of the round sees a rather inexperienced Brisbane side take on the defending premiers and Joey has picked the latter and noted one particular reason – the inclusion of Victor Radley who escaped suspension during the week.

“Massive in,” Johns said regarding Radley.

“Victor is like an extra halfback.

“I think the Roosters win and win well.”

Panthers v Warriors

Joey’s Tip: Warriors

Both teams put in gritty performances in Round 3 and because of that, their match on Friday night seems like it could be another tight affair.

The former Newcastle captain didn’t like what he saw from Penrith against a short-handed Knights side, and therefore is going with the Warriors.

“With how much ball they had, and the players the Knights had out..they didn’t put them to bed,” he said.

“I really like the Warriors in this one.”

Storm v Rabbitohs

Joey’s Tip: Storm

The Rabbitohs head to Melbourne this Friday night fresh off a loss against their closest rival, and into an arena where they’ve never tasted victory.

That’s all Joey needed to hear to select the Storm for his tips suggesting “they win, and win well.”

Eels v Manly

Joey’s Tip: Eels

Both Johns and Brad Fittler have called this one the match of the round however despite that, are confident that it’ll be the Eels who’ll go over.

Fittler proposed that the Parramatta home of Bankwest Stadium may prove the difference.

Cowboys v Sharks

Joey’s Tip: Cowboys

Valentine Holmes comes up against his old club for the first time but without his enforcer of Jason Taumalolo.

Nevertheless Joey still believes the North Queensland club have what it takes to win, especially due to playing at home.

“It’s a big out, but on paper the Cowboys have still got a very good team,” Joey said.

Raiders v Knights

Joey’s Tip: Raiders

For the first time in 2020, Johns has gone against his former club, tipping the high-flying Raiders outfit who pounced the Storm last weekend.

English duo George Williams and Josh Hodgson were the two keys for Canberra according to the Great Man.

Titans v Tigers

Joey’s Tip: Tigers

It’s been a tough start to the year for Gold Coast, and the Eighth Immortal is predicting more woes for them.

Tigers come in with a few injuries but it isn’t enough for Joey to go against the Tigers.

Bulldogs v Dragons

Joey’s Tip: Dragons

Neither side has tasted triumph this year yet and this Monday’s game proves a great opportunity.

Joey credited the Bulldogs side, but ultimately ended up picking the Dragons.

“Bulldogs last week were spirited against Manly…but one of their halves has to take control of the kicking game,” he said.

“Surely they [Dragons] bounce back.”
