The nib Newcastle Knights can confirm Tex Hoy has been promoted to the Club’s Top 30 NRL squad.

Previously on a Development Contract, the promotion ensures Hoy is available for NRL selection from Round 1.

Recruitment Manager, Alex McKinnon said the new deal is a well-deserved reward for the 20-year-old.
“Tex has athletic ability that allows him to play multiple positions,” McKinnon said.
“He can play centre, five-eighth, fullback and that’s important in the modern-day game to create depth in your Top 30.
“Tex turns 21 this year and has physically applied himself in the off-season and the promotion now gives coach Adam O’Brien, the opportunity to select Tex in the first-grade squad come Round 1.”
A fullback with speed to burn, Hoy has been impressive throughput the pre-season and Perth Nines tournament where he scored a try in all three of the Club’s games.
Hoy made 16 appearances in the Knights’ 2019 Canterbury Cup side, scoring seven tries, making a whopping 72 tackle breaks, averaging 130 run metres per game and kicking two goals.
In only his second year as part of the fulltime training squad, Hoy is contracted with the Club until at least the end of season 2021.
