Three local Year 11 students have recently been selected to attend the NRL All-Stars Indigenous Youth Leadership Summit on the Gold Coast following their outstanding achievement in the nib Newcastle Knights School to Work Program.
Malakye Walford from Cardiff High School, Olivia Chapman from Cessnock High School and Jarmaine Elemes from Hunter Sports High School were all chosen to represent the Newcastle and Hunter Region.
The summit is designed for young Indigenous leaders from across both Australia and New Zealand to provide the student with a fantastic opportunity to further develop their leadership, cultural, educational and communication skills by participating in a range of sessions delivered by facilitators and special guests.
Knights’ stars Connor Watson and Edrick Lee both presented the three participants with a Newcastle Knights shirt for the event and to congratulate them on their proud selection.
The special event coincides with the NRL All Stars match contested between the Indigenous and Moari All Stars on Saturday 22 February.
