nib Newcastle Knights fans have been given a boost just prior to Christmas with news Mason Lino is ahead of schedule in recovering from a recent shoulder injury.

Coaching staff are hopeful the Samoan international will continue his progression in the next month to be ready for selection in the upcoming trial games.

Recovery Report: Tamworth heat, Lino boost

Head of Physical Performance, Balin Cupples, said in the latest Recovery Report, that he was pleased with how the No.6's shoulder was improving.

“Chatting to the rehab team this morning, we’re really happy with his strength and dyno-measures and where’s he got to in improvements in that shoulder,” said Cupples.

“He’s going to have a busy Christmas period as physios are going to continue to do some work and by the time we hit January he’ll be starting his contact and groundwork progressions.

“Hopefully he’ll re-join training in the early February phase which should give him, at this stage, a good run into trials and potentially Round One.”
