Viewed as the nib Newcastle Knights next long-term halfback, young gun Phoenix Crossland enjoyed a solid 2019 season.
Not only did Crossland star for the Knights Jersey Flegg side, he also impressed enough to become a Canterbury Cup regular. It was in thus competition where he played well enough to earn his first NRL appearance for the club, coming off the bench in the round 16 loss to the Warriors.
In his 12 minutes of game time he managed 3 runs for 12 metres, however he made enough of an impact that he has become a house-hold name for many Knights fans.
Aside from making his NRL debut, Crossland impressed in the Canterbury Cup, notching up six tries, four try assists and five line-break assists in his 15 appearances.
Not bad stats considering he’s only recently turned 19.
Unfortunately for Crossland, his season was cut short by a foot injury, however there’s no doubting this was a break-out year in the young halfback’s career.
