Power Rankings for Round 16

In 2019, newcastleknights.com.au will be awarding our own 3, 2, 1 each week.

We’ll keep tally as we rank the performances of our troops throughout the season.

Having been moved from backrow to centre, Sione Mata'utia continues to impress and last weekend he produced one of his best.

Here’s how the nib Newcastle Knights looked after Round 16:

3 - Sione Mata’utia

Mata’utia produced one of his best games in Round 16, showing consistency throughout the full 80 minutes.

The backrower scored two tries and accumulated 132 run metres, the second highest behind Shaun Kenny-Dowall.

He finished the game with two line-breaks and two tries.

2 - Herman Ese’ese

Ese'ese put in the work.

He ran for a total of 92 metres off 9 runs in the first half.

He finished the game with 131 metres.

Ese’ese was expected to step up in the absence of Klemmer and he certainly rose to the occasion.

1 - Danny Levi

A strong effort was put forward by the hooker, playing a full 80 minutes on his return after a seven-week recovery from an ankle injury.

The No.9 produced 44 tackles and only missed three.
