Injury update: Dislocated elbow sidelines Fitzgibbon

Lachlan Fitzgibbon has been dealt some cruel news with scans on his elbow revealing he will miss at least the next month of football.

The backrower suffered a dislocated elbow in the early exchanges of last Saturday’s narrow loss to the Warriors, yet braved the pain to finish the match.

Injury Report: Fitzgibbon sidelined, Lee surgery success

Head of Physical Performance Balin Cupples revealed on Monday that Fitzgibbon has suffered ligament damage which will keep him off the field for around five weeks.

"Everyone saw Lachy got caught awkwardly diving on a loose ball early in the game on Saturday night,” Cupples said.

“Unfortunately, he dislocated his elbow. And surrounding that, post follow ups with scans and specialists over the last few days, no fracture but he has done a little bit of damage to his surrounding ligaments.

“At this stage he’ll be in a brace for 3-4 weeks and then a potential return to play at 4-5 weeks off the back of that.

“He did extremely well to get through the game off the back of the injury. A moderate recovery for him, which isn’t great but we'll make sure Lachy does the work.”

Meanwhile, Edrick Lee has successfully had his broken arm operated on.

The winger suffered the injury in Round 15 and is expected to be available for selection in time for the finals.

“Eddie had a successful surgery,” he said.
