Pearce groin injury explained and Levi update

Mitchell Pearce is dealing with a minor groin issue.

The nib Newcastle Knights halfback will spend the bye round recovering from the injury in a bid to be fully fit come Round 13’s match with South Sydney.

According to coach Nathan Brown, Pearce’s issue isn’t expected to see him miss any club games.

“Pearcey has a slight groin problem,” Brown said.

“It’s not a bad thing. It’s a bad thing if he had to play this weekend. It’s one of those ones that could get a little worse.

“He won’t train with us this week.  He’ll do a little rehab and that type of stuff and then he should be fine to train fully next week. We’ll know a little more next week.”

Meanwhile, the full extent of Danny Levi’s injury is yet to be revealed.

The hooker went down with an ankle injury on Friday but requires scans in order to determine the severity.

“Danny’s had some scans. He’s definitely going to be out for a period, it’s just to what extent,” Brown said.

“Danny will go to Sydney in the morning and get checked out and we will know if he has to have surgery or no surgery. If it’s surgery, it’ll be a bit longer than if it’s not surgery.

“We will know a bit more by tomorrow.”
