Junior reps: Grand final domination

It’s been a big weekend for the Newcastle Knights junior reps sides!

Two wins and two grand finals.

The Harold Matthews and Tarsha Gale squads both set to play in deciders at Bankwest Stadium next weekend.

Backrower Max Bradbury was outstanding across the board and proved a handful in the Knights 20-6 win against the Panthers.

Jonah Pezet was pin-point with the boot, playing out an exceptional kicking game.

At halftime there was just four points in it (10-6) but the Knights dominated through the middle, ran easy yards to keep their opponents scoreless in the second half.

Knights winger Charlie Thompson impressed out wide on debut and recorded the double.

The U16s will play the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the grand final on Saturday.

It was a close encounter for the girls as they fought to grind out a 36-28 thriller against the Dragons.

Joeli Morris was valuable in the halves and scored a try in the 17th minute, while Jorja Holden recorded the double and had a strong performance in the no. 1.

Last time they met, it was a beat up by the Dragons but the Knights muscled up in the middle and showed determination.

The girls will play the Illawarra Steelers in the grand final on Saturday.
