Injury update: Guerra surgery, Pearce head-knock

Aidan Guerra had surgery on Monday to repair his injured ankle.

The backrower suffered a dislocation and fracture in Saturday’s loss to Manly which will see him sidelined for an extended period.

“He’s got a dislocated fracture of his ankle,” Head of Physical Performance, Balin Cupples said.

“He’s going in for surgery (on Monday) afternoon. We will have some more details on return to play after this afternoon.

“The main thing is the Club is fully supporting Aidan and his family.”

Injury Report: Update on Guerra, Pearce and Mata'utia

ROOKIE REPORT: TEENS SHINE

The Knights will be without Guerra for an extended period but could welcome Sione Mata’utia back after a week off.

Mata’utia suffered a burner against St George Illawarra and will continue to be monitored in the lead-up to Sunday’s game against the Gold Coast.

“Sione suffered a traction injury of his brachial plexus,” Cupples explained.

“It’s a neural burner injury. He’s been making steady process.

“If things go well over the next few days, we may see him this weekend. If not, it’ll be shortly after.”

Meanwhile, Mitchell Pearce looks set to overcome a head-knock and face the Titans at Cbus Super Stadium this weekend.

The No.7 took a whack to the head which saw him miss the back-end of Saturday’s gam but is progressing well according to the medical testing.

“Mitch failed his HIA on game night and did not return to the game,” Cupples said.
