Injury update: Big names eyeing off return

The nib Newcastle Knights could be boosted by the return of several big names this weekend.

James Gavet, Connor Watson and Jacob Saifiti are all a strong chance of making their comeback from injury in Round 5.

According to Head of Physical Performance, Balin Cupples, the trio have trained strongly and put themselves into a position to be available for selection.

“Connor’s getting through all our training in terms of with the team, this week,” Cupples said.

“If he gets through this week, he should be available for selection. The same with James Gavet. He got through some contact this morning.

“He has the rest of the week to get through but should be available as well come later in the week.”

Watson injured his knee, while Gavet picked up a sternum injury.

Saifiti has missed the start of the season with a broken leg but has completed his return to play program.

“He’s trained with the main squad now for a couple of weeks,” Cupples said.

“He got through all the opposed sessions and contact. Touch wood he gets through this week and he’ll come up as well.”

Meanwhile, outside back Brayden Musgrove will make his return from an ACL injury this weekend.
