Injury update: Giant strides made by Watson and Ponga

Kalyn Ponga and Connor Watson are back on the training paddock.

Watson had surgery on his groin, while Ponga fixed his ankle to finish the 2018 season.

With the team back training for the past four weeks, the livewire duo is nearing full health.

Head of Physical Performance, Balin Cupples said Ponga and Watson will increase their workload next week with a view to have them involved in everything before the Christmas break.

Injury Report: Latest on Kalyn Ponga and Connor Watson

"They've had a pretty exciting week this week," Cupples told newcastleknights.com.au.

"They've been in the majority of sessions. Doing opposed skill, working with Rory (Kostjasyn) and Woolfy (Kristian Woolf) on contact progressions.

"From Monday, based on how well they've gone this week, they'll be pretty much full (training) with the rest of the squad."

Baby Pearce… what’s in a name?
