Why Gavet believes Knights can be a force

Can the nib Newcastle Knights win it all in 2019?

New recruit James Gavet certainly believes they can and it's a big reason why he moved to the club a fortnight ago.

The towering forward brings much needed size and aggression to the Knights' engine room.

FIVE REASONS TO BE PUMPED FOR 2019

The 29-year-old says the team is training hard to start the pre-season and have set the bar high for 2019.

"We want to win it, if you're not here to win it then might as well pack up and go home," Gavet said.

Lee: Why I picked Newcastle

"There's no doubt in our minds with what we're doing at the moment.

"That's the whole reason we're all here and we're putting in 110 percent every day."

Impressed with the crop of young forwards the club already has, Gavet said he's keen to build some combinations with the likes of the Saifiti brothers, Jacob and Daniel, and Herman Ese'ese.

MOST VERSATILE TEAM IN THE NRL?

"There's a few players here I've always admired from afar," Gavet said.

"I can't wait for us to get our combinations together and for us to prove to everyone we'll be a force to reckon with."

Be The Player: Week 2

With a number of great forwards to have played for the Knights, Gavet said he's keen to be apart of the club's rich history.

"For me, it's just trying to get this club with so much rich history back on track and I think we can really do that this season," Gavet added.
