Knights name Round 1 Jersey Flegg team

Jersey Flegg coach Todd Lowrie has named a 17-man squad for the match against the Manly Sea Eagles on Saturday at Cessnock Sportsground.

The Jersey Flegg Cup is back after a ten-year absence following the cessation of the Under 20s National Youth Competition.

With a number of players going up to ISP this year, it’s a different look squad for Lowrie in 2018, although the fullback position is occupied by Matt Cooper who made it his own last year.

A new halves combination will form in Nash Birch and Hayden Loughrey, while Tom Starling, who trained with the top squad in pre-season and competed in Reserve Grade in parts of last year, will play a starting role in the number nine.

There will be six new players set to make their Club debuts including Henry-Siriah Fuimaono in the number eight, Brandon Russell starting at lock and Joe Bromage on the bench.
