Kurt Gidley’s say: “This is a very distant memory for myself. I’m fairly sure we were missing some of our senior players for this game. Brisbane were a great team. To be the first team and player to win in Golden Point was pretty special. It wasn’t the best looking field goal but it got there! Again, the emotions that followed with teammates are my best memories.”
Travelling to Brisbane without Andrew Johns, Timana Tahu and Robbie O’Davis, things only got more complicated for the Knights in the first half when they lost Ben Kennedy and Mark Hughes to injury.
With the game at 16-all in the 80th minute, three minutes later Kurt Gidley came up with his first ever field goal that will be replayed on highlight reels for years to come.
