Harold Matthews Knights pound Bears

The Harold Matthews Newcastle Knights took control of the match against the North Sydney Bears from the get-go, to record a 52-0 defeat at Maitland on Saturday afternoon.

Knights winger Kodi Crowther proved too tricky for the visitors with four tries to his name as Newcastle had all the speed and athleticism to make it three wins from three in their 2018 campaign.

There was an early try via Sam Robinson, who was first on the board for the Knights before Radzievic added the extras for the home side to take the lead 6-0.

Noah Nailagoliva crashed through for the Knights’ second with Radzievic sending it through the posts from the right sideline with a tricky conversion. The Knights led 12-0.

With 13 minutes remaining in the first half, halfback Jonah Pezet weaved his way through defenders to dive over the line near the posts which extended the Knights lead to 18-0.

70 metres out, Crowther side stepped his way past defenders to accelerate to the line and slam down for the Knights' fourth. Radzievic made it four from four off the boot to see the Knights lead 24-0 into the halftime break.

Radzievic found a break 40-metres out and sailed over the line, to convert his own try, before Thomas Cant shrugged off a pack of red and black defenders to run it to the line, to extend the lead 34-0.

A high kick off the boot saw some fancy work from Knights winger Crowther to tip it back into play to gather the ball and then score the double. It was a 38-0 ball game to Newcastle.

A hat-trick from Crowther, who was on the end of a precision off-load on the right side. A missed conversion saw the Knights at 42-0 with 16 minutes to play.

Crowther managed to add another four points to his tally as he dived over on the right edge to extend the Knights lead 46-0.

Just before the final siren, Tallis Duncan side stepped his way to the goal line to crash over near the posts. Radzievic added the extras out in front to see the Knights take an impressive 52-0 victory in their Round 3 clash.
