nib Newcastle Knights utility back Brendan Elliot has returned to the side for Sunday's Round 18 clash against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

The 23-year-old, who has scored four tries in 10 appearances this season, said the team has had an intense week of training in preparation for the match at Belmore.

“We were pretty disappointed after last week and I think all the boys have used that as motivation this week to really put in a good effort training,” commented Elliot.

“We are putting in the work so we’re going to be ready and we’re really looking forward to it.”

Elliot expects to play in front of a stellar crowd for Josh Reynolds’ last home match at Belmore.

“Belmore is a great field and I think they’ll get a big crowd there on a Sunday afternoon,” he said.

“I am expecting a huge crowd and it should be a good game.

"Josh has done a lot for the club and I think the fans will really turn out for him.”

Elliot has been named on the wing for Sunday's match.

“It is really important for me to try and cement my spot in the team,” said Elliot.

“I’ll put my best foot forward and hopefully I can cement that spot.”

Three grades are in action at Belmore Sports Ground; NYC kick off at 12 noon before ISP at 1.45pm and NRL at 4pm.
