Five-eighth Brock Lamb will need to do his homework this week when the nib Newcastle Knights encounter the St George Illawarra Dragons at Jubilee Oval this Sunday.
Having only played at Kogarah in a couple of NYC games, it’s unknown territory.
“I look forward to playing week in, week out... every time it’s a different game, a different challenge every week,” Lamb commented.
“I watched the Dragons on the weekend and also a couple of clips on them.
“We are starting to get our preparation right, hopefully we can carry that on to get a good win.”
With the bye last weekend came two points and a move off the bottom of the ladder for the Knights.
The 20-year-old says the team wants to get off the bottom thanks to wins rather than byes, though.
“We are trying to get off the bottom playing our football not just with the bye... so this next block we’re going to try to get a couple of wins,” he explained.
"They are very winnable games... we just need to focus on what we’ve been doing on the field and we should be alright.”
For more than a month, Lamb has been working on his halves partnership with teammate Jaelen Feeney.
The pair are starting to hit their straps and while he admits there’s growth in his game, Lamb knows more development is needed.
“I have definitely got improvement,” stated Lamb.
“I am traveling alright but I’ve got to keep working with the people inside and outside of me and just keep working on my defence.
“When I get that right, I tend to be alright so that’s my main goal.
In Round 16 the Knights will also be playing for the Alex McKinnon Cup.
And while Dane Gagai is the only player left in the team that played alongside McKinnon, Lamb said there is still plenty of motivation for the team.
“It means a lot,” Lamb said.
“All of the boys talk about it around training and it’s definitely going to be in the back of our minds.
“It would be unreal for us to go out there and get a win for him and his family and I’m sure it means a lot to him.”
