nib Newcastle Knights winger Ken Sio says the bye round allowed him to enjoy a bit of time away from the football field with his family.

The 26-year-old admits it’s good to have the time off to refresh, but he’s ready to get back into it.

“When you come back you’re keen to gel together again and get those combinations going again,” Sio said.

“We hit the ground running today and had a good first session back.”

Asked about his form half way through the season, the winger said he’s happy with where he’s at.

“I am finding my game good at the moment," Sion added.

“I just have to keep carrying on, on a week to week basis.

“I want to help out the boys with those early carries and do my job.”

Sio has no doubt the Melbourne Storm will be an almighty task on Friday night.

“We just need to put in a full 80-minute performance this weekend and just go all out,” explained Sio.

“I know the Storm are a good 80-minutes team and we need to come up with a solid performance this week.”

The Knights winger said it won’t matter who is on the field, the Storm have all bases covered.

“No matter who is playing or who is not in, there are always players ready to back up,” commented Sio.

“I rate their back three highly, especially Suliasi Vunivalu."

And while it's still relatively warm in Newcastle for this time of year, that isn't the case in Melbourne.

“Coming in from England, I should be used to it,” laughed Sio.

"I think I’ve been soaking up the sun too much here... but I should be alright.”

The Knights travel to Melbourne on Thursday in preparation for Friday night's match against the Storm at AAMI Park.
