The nib Newcastle Knights finalised round two preparations on Friday as they get set to take on the Gold Coast Titans at McDonald Jones Stadium this Saturday.
It’ll be a special occasion for pacey winger Ken Sio, who’ll play his first home game for the Club.
“I have got a bit of nerves but excitement as well, I’m looking forward to the first home game and hopefully we get a win,” said Sio.
The 26-year-old, who played 80 minutes against the Warriors in New Zealand last week, can’t wait to run out in front of the red and blue supporters.
“Hopefully we get a big crowd, that will be great,” Sio explained.
“We’ll turn the stadium into a fortress and get many more wins.”
This Saturday, 17 of the Club’s most capped players will make an appearance at their Sacred Ground including the likes of Danny Buderus, Andrew Johns and Steve Simpson as the Club celebrates its 30th year.
“We’ve got some tough blokes from the past, probably here before I was born and they’ll get to see a new era of players,” Sio said.
The Knights winger is looking forward to Saturday’s challenge against the Titans, who will also be looking for their first win of the season.
“The Titans are in the rebuilding stage as well,” Sio added.
“We’re feeling confident with the boys training well this whole week, so we’ll get stuck in tomorrow.”
The Knights squad was reduced to 19 on Friday afternoon with Chanel Mata’utia and Josh King omitted from the 21-man squad named on Tuesday. The final 17 is announced one hour before kick off on Saturday.
The Titans updated 19-man squad:
1. Jarryd Hayne, 2. Anthony Don, 3. Dan Sarginson, 4. Konrad Hurrell, 21. Tyronne Roberts-Davis, 6. Kane Elgey, 7. Ash Taylor, 8. Jarrod Wallace, 9. Tyrone Roberts, 10. Ryan James (c), 11.
